Kayak Trip 2012

Pictures from the trip.

Please note that some of the pictures have a blur from salt on the lens of the "waterproof" Lumix. Must figure out how to keep it dry! Ryan's estimate of distance was approx 90 kilometers.

López Mateos, Magdalena Bay,

A two hour trip from Loreto gets you to the Pacific coast and the whales of Magdalena Bay. Hire a panga and go see how close you can get.
The change from mountains and cacti to flat land almost devoid of cacti is impressive. The bay has higher saline and is protected and the mum whales bring their 3 month olds and stay for 2-3 months then head for Alaska.

Loreto, Baja, Mexico - out first stop on the kayak trip

Loreto (click for more images)

A quiet town, still mostly undeveloped. Not too many tourists but some really nice small hotels and cafes. Great place to start a trip.
